Kananaskis Sunrise Hiking Elopement

Canmore Adventure Elopement Photographers
As Canmore adventure elopement photographers we love meeting couples who call the mountains home. Chris and Tereza both moved to Canmore separately and fell in love with the community and its adventurous spirit. They met each other surrounded by the peaks that make up their home. Since moving to Canmore, exploring the mountains has become how they spend their favourite days together and it was important for them to celebrate this on their elopement day. We were so excited to find the perfect intimate location for them to say I do.
Finding the Perfect Location for Your Adventure Elopement in the Mountains
Chris and Tereza are avid hikers so they made it there mission to find the perfect location for their sunrise adventure. They spent the beginning of the summer hiking to different viewpoints and mountain top locations to find the spot that felt just right. They were after something with incredible views but also somewhere that was unique and quiet. Something that would hold a special significance to them in years to come. Chris told us they came across this perfect little lookout on the way to a peak one day. It had incredible views across the valley and lakes on one side and dramatic mountains towering above you on the other. It was also a perfect spot to watch the sunrise as from the east the sun would light up all the peaks around them.

Hiking up by Headlamp for a Sunrise Adventure
There is nothing quite like hiking up a mountain for sunrise. We met Chris and Tereza early in the morning, accompanied by some of their best humans and Morro the husky pup. We gathered our things under the stars and made our way up the rocky trail to our destination. There is something so magical about hiking up to a location by headlamp. Blind to the views that surround you until the sun slowly begins to reveal them.
When the clouds began to turn a soft shade of pink we knew it was going to be a stunning sunrise! Tereza headed off into the trees to get changed while Chris got into his suit. waiting out on a rocky viewpoint, we watched Tereza walk out to meet him. Their first look was incredible as the tips of the peaks began to light up around them. We took some portraits as the colours burned the towering rock faces to the west. Then it was time for their simple and intimate ceremony. They made promises to one another and exchanged rings with the mountains, wildflowers and birds as their witnesses.
A Picnic Brunch Reception and Canoe Paddle to End the Morning
After exploring all of the incredible mountain vistas, we hiked back down to the lake. Chris and Tereza had planned the most amazing picnic brunch with delicious homemade food and lots of coffee and baileys to cure the early morning wake up call. It was such a sunny and warm morning to celebrate their elopement day. They even kept the adventure going a little longer with a paddle around the lake in a red canoe!
We feel so lucky to have met these two wonderful people and created these happy memories of their sunrise hiking wedding in the mountains. We hope you enjoy a look into their amazing morning.
