Banff Sunrise Mountain Elopement
Krista & Carl
Kananaskis Elopement Photographers
As Kananaskis elopement photographers we are always excited to plan sunrise hiking adventures with amazing couples. This beautiful wedding in the mountains was no exception!
Krista and Carl first got in contact with us when they decided to change their intimate wedding plans and elope instead! The one requirement was it was to be on top of a mountain! We were quick to share our ideas, favourite views and amazing spots in the area. In our opinion, the hardest part of eloping is choosing your location as everywhere in the Canadian Rocky Mountains will take your breath away.
A Couple of Very Important Guests on Their Elopement Day.
A few weeks out from their date Carl got in contact with us with an idea. Krista was having some mixed feelings about not having her parents attend the wedding ceremony. She wanted to have her mountain top celebration but also wanted her parents to be there to share this special moment in her life. Carl was trying to figure out how he could surprise her with them being there on the day and we all began coming up with ideas on how we could make it work! In the end, we decided to let her in on the secret so she could be just as excited as all of us. We got to work planning how we could make the day perfect and include all of the special moments that they were both hoping for.

A Sunrise Adventure and Morning Mountain Ceremony.
Krista and Carl decided that they wanted to hike up to somewhere amazing to watch the sunrise over the mountains for their elopement portraits. We were lucky with such an amazing evening and the full moon guided us up the ridge to their special spot. As the sun rose and spread colour through the sky, we watched the moon set in the opposite direction. It was such a beautiful moment. As the peaks across the lake began to glow we made our way down to a viewpoint to take some portraits. Every direction you looked in it was incredible! We then made our way back down to the lake to meet up with Krista’s parents who would be joining them for their lakeshore ceremony.
It was such an amazing day to be a part of and so important to share that just because you are eloping doesn’t mean you can’t share it with the people you love.
