Banff Elopement at Storm Mountain Lodge

This Banff elopement at Storm Mountain Lodge was such a dream to be a part of! Hayley and Justin planned the most amazing elopement day with help from all of their incredible vendors. In our eyes (and through our cameras), it couldn’t have been more beautiful!

Hayley and Justin travelled from Ontario for their elopement and wanted to celebrate the amazing mountain views in their wedding photos. They were excited to go on a big adventure and experience something unique that they would remember for the rest of their lives. 

Planning an Elopement Day in the Rocky Mountains

From all of our initial calls, it was clear that Hayley and Justin were wanting to seek out some special places in the area for their wedding photos. They were up for an adventure and loved the idea of going on a big hike to celebrate the journey that brought each other together up until this point.

We decided together that the best plan for Hayley and Justin was to enjoy their wedding day at a more relaxed pace with an intimate ceremony, picnic cake cutting and sunset vows at Moraine Lake. Then they would have a day to rest and reflect and the following day go on an epic sunrise hiking adventure to find one of the most amazing views in the Rockies!

Choosing the Right Vendors for your Elopement Day

Hayley and Justin picked such a wonderful team of vendors. This made everything flow so smoothly on their day. Hayley’s best friend from high school, Cassie, just launched her mountain elopement planning company Love Spell Co and was the talent behind all of the beautiful details in this elopement day. The incredible stationery, picnic cake cutting decor and styling was all envisioned by Cassie and we were blown away by her talent! 

Getting Ready in a Secluded Mountain Cabin, Saying ‘I Do’ Down by the River and Private Sunset Vows at Moraine Lake

Storm Mountain Lodge is such a beautiful location for an intimate elopement day. Tucked away off the main highway between Banff and Lake Louise you will find this little paradise full of history and unique log cabins. It was the perfect location for Hayley and Justin to get ready and enjoy their first look before heading off to their ceremony location. 

After these two had their first look amongst the daisies, we met up with Patrick Smiley, their officiant and found a perfect spot down by the Bow River for their intimate ceremony. With Castle Mountain towering over them and the icy blue water flowing past as they exchanged rings and said ‘I do’. We then made our way back to Storm Mountain Lodge for a beautiful picnic cake cutting before heading off to Moraine Lake!

Hayley and Justin had saved their private vows for a special moment up at Moraine Lake. We found a perfect rock perched high above the lake and all agreed that this was the spot! The backdrop behind them looked like a painting as the late afternoon sun lit up the blue water and burned the peaks orange. We explored a little more around the Rockpile while the clouds began to change colour. We found a quiet spot off into the trees with a view over the valley and Hayley and Justin shared their first dance as husband and wife.
