Sedona Adventure Elopement

On a Sedona adventure elopement day, you can experience some of nature’s most beautiful landscapes. You can explore red rocks, canyons and cliffs, cactus gardens, freshwater creeks and some of the most stunning sunsets and starry skies. We were lucky enough to capture all of this and more on Hayley and Andrew’s destination wedding adventure.

A Special Place Among Red Rocks

This sweet couple planned the most beautiful trip to Arizona. They knew from the very moment they got engaged that they wanted to get married in an intimate way, somewhere special. When they found the Elysian Retreat in Sedona they knew this was the perfect place to host their immediate family.

Perched up high above Oak Creek, this beautiful home was the perfect place to host a small celebration. Hayley and Andrew spent the morning getting ready slowly while taking in the scenery around them. Sedona is known for its healing energy vortexes and you couldn’t help but feel at peace in this setting. Hayley and Andrew shared a first look out on one of the garden trails before heading off to their ceremony location, a cliff overlooking the famous Cathedral Mountain.

An Intimate Ceremony Perched High on a Cliff

We all made our way through a winding trail bordered by blooming wildflowers and cactus. When the trail opened up we were rewarded with vast views overlooking the mountains and creek below. A quiet place we had found a few days earlier while location scouting in Sedona. Their celebrant Brittany guided them through a thoughtful ceremony that reflected their story. We all gathered around as Hayley and Andrew made promises to each other while birds soared above us riding the currents of the wind.

After they were declared married, champagne was poured in celebration and we all cheered for the newlyweds! Their family then headed back to the retreat to get ready for dinner and we stayed a little while longer exploring the area. The sun came out from behind the clouds just as Hayley and Andrew shared private vows. It was the most beautiful afternoon.

An Outdoor Reception Dinner at Sunset

When we arrived back at the retreat, the outdoor space was set and ready for dinner. The colours of the table setting matched the red hues of the landscape in the afternoon golden light. The Gourmet Rabbit led everyone through a delicious and almost too pretty to eat, 5-course meal as the day slowly turned into night.

An Adventurous Hike to End A Perfect Elopement

We couldn’t come to Sedona and not take advantage of some of the incredible hikes in the area. As we didn’t want to take Hayley and Andrew away from their family dinner on their wedding day, we suggested adding an adventure session at sunset to make the most of the views in the area. We had the best time hiking up and exploring the red rock features. This area has the most unique and fascinating landscapes to photograph and we were lucky to have a beautiful clear night to watch the sunset.

We had a wonderful time in Sedona and loved discovering a new place with our cameras and making memories for this kind and fun group of humans. We hope you like looking through some of the photos!
