Helicopter Elopement in Banff National Park.

This Helicopter Elopement in Banff National Park was one of the most beautiful fall days we have ever experienced here in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Kaley and Zach had two main requirements for their elopement day:

1. To be surrounded by epic mountain views.

2. To be fully present with each other and enjoy the day outside.

We love when our values align with our clients like this and we were so excited to help these two plan out a day that felt true to them.

After looking through our packages, our helicopter elopement package caught K and Z’s eye as it allowed them to explore an intimate mountaintop location without hiking for hours.

Getting Ready at the Chateau Lake Louise in Banff National Park.

For our helicopter elopement package, we work with a company called Rockies Heli Canada. Based just outside of Banff National Park this area offers more landing opportunities than within the National Park. It is also much quieter and more remote for intimate elopement days in the mountains. Lake Louise is a great option to stay in for couples choosing this type of adventure. K + Z chose to get ready at the famous Chateau Lake Louise to begin their adventurous day.

Set on the shores of a sparking blue lake surrounded by snowy peaks, Chateau Lake Louise has arguably some of the most incredible views you can get from a hotel room. We had the most beautiful morning watching canoes crisscrossing around the glacier fed lake.

First Look Among Fall Colours.

To take advantage of the beautiful views at Lake Louise, K and Z decided to have their first look down by the lake. The shores of Lake Louise can be very busy, but in October after the summer crowds have left, it is a beautiful spot to visit. We found a quiet meadow where Zach waited for Kaley to arrive. The golden fall leaves stuck around a little later than usual this year contrasting the bright blue of the water so beautifully. We all marvelled at the landscape while Kaley walked up to meet her husband-to-be. Her veil blew perfectly in the slight breeze as she made her way across the golden grass.

We took some time here to take some photos and explore the lakeside before making the drive up to Rockies Heli on Abraham Lake.

A Private Ceremony surrounded by Mountain Peaks and Glaciers.

We were so lucky with a beautiful evening for this heli tour in the Rockies. Not much wind and clear skies indicated it was going to be a beautiful sunset for these two lovers. As we took off we all marvelled again at the colours at this time of year. The golden trees hugging the blue shoreline of Abraham Lake was a special site to see from a birds eye view. We flew through the valley to one of our favourtie locations in the area. A cliffy outcrop overlooking a glacier with 360 degree mountain views.

The sun was slowly dropping behind the mountains so K and Z chose their favourite spot to do their intimate ceremony. They had written each other private vows and receited these to each other. The wind carying away their words, only for them to hear and remember on this day. The low sun was playing beautiful shadows on the scenery around us and we took advantage of the light by taking portraits around the area. Taking breaks to warm up in-between photos.

Mountain Top Moonrise.

As we lost the sun behind the mountains we all got back in the helicopter and made our way to our second and last location for the evening. We zoomed up to one of the highest points in the area to watch the sun set over the sea of mountains around us. It was truely magnificent. We ran around the rocky landscape identifying the mountains we recognised in the distance and making up names for the ones we didn’t. These two were an absolute dream to photograph in the fading light and you can only imagine our excitement surrounded by these views.

Just as we were making our way back to the helicopter I heard Zach whisper to Kaley “look at the moon.” We all turned to see the full moon creep up above the mountains, lit up in golden colours by the setting sun. As if this night couldnt get more magical, it just did! We let the newlyweds take in this moment together with the rising moon as we took our final and favourtie photos of the day. Wish these moments could last forever but atleast we know that through our photos, they can.
