Canmore Helicopter Elopement

This Canmore helicopter elopement was such an incredible mountain top wedding in the Canadian Rockies! Katie and Ben had always known they wanted to do something small and intimate for their wedding day. This fun couple reached out to us after they had seen a helicopter elopement we had previously photographed. Both agreeing it looked like just the kind of adventure they were hoping for. We couldn’t wait to help them plan out their own day in the mountains!

How to Plan a Stress-Free Elopement Day

One beautiful thing about eloping is the simplicity of it all. Katie and Ben put together an amazing team of vendors that helped them plan a seamless day. Because of this, it made sure the focus was on having a fun-filled day together.

This elopement day began with a slow and peaceful morning getting ready at The Pomeroy Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis. A great place to stay for any Canmore helicopter elopement as its not too far from the heli base. An added bonus, you can celebrate with a visit to the Kananaskis Nordic Spa afterwards.

When they were both ready, Katie walked through the forest to meet Ben and their pup Lucy for their first look. It was such a special moment overlooking the mountains.

An Epic Mountain Top Ceremony and Intimate Picnic Reception

Once we had gathered up our things we headed off to Alpine Helicopters. We were met by Cheryl, their officiant and mountain guide and were briefed for the adventure to come. Everyone was gasping in awe as we soared over mountains peaks, forests and rivers to get to their mountain top destination. When we arrived the panoramic views were even more spectacular than we imagined.

Their ceremony was just perfect. After sharing vows and exchanging rings to one another Cheryl read out letters from ther family members and friends. The love these two have for each other, and the love that surrounds them could have filled the valleys surrounding us. We then explored the rocky ridges and viewpoints for their portraits as we watched the dark rain clouds build in the distance. The sun and storm clouds making the perfect combination for epic mountain photos!

While we were in the air, the wonderful Cassie from Love Spell Co. styled and co-ordinated a beautiful picnic reception. Tucked in the forest and decorated with flowers and deserts, Katie and Ben enjoyed a quiet moment soaking in all the moments of their adventure. It was a perfect way to end an amazing day!
