Selene and Tyler

Lakeside Banff Elopement

This lakeside Banff elopement felt like reading a chapter out of a romantic classic. Selene and Tyler made the familiar drive from Saskatchewan into the mountains with their fishing boat in tow. The last time they saw the towering peaks and blue lakes of Banff National Park was the year before when they got engaged. After that trip, they couldn’t think of a more meaningful place to tie the knot.

Planning an Intimate Elopement in Banff National Park

Selene and Tyler knew exactly how they wanted their day to feel and they let this guide the planning for the day. No rushing around, no tight timelines, just soaking in one magical day together.

The day began enjoying a slow morning together. Selene did her own makeup and hair while Tyler got into his suit. They hung out on the balcony telling us stories of how they met and fell in love. They had always imagined having a small wedding and celebrating with an intimate elopement. In this case, the pandemic only confirmed this plan.

A Private First Look and an Intentional Ceremony

Tyler made his way to the lake and Selene got into her dress. Nervous to see each other for the first time before they would be husband and wife, Tyler waited out on the rocks for her to arrive. As Selene and Tyler embraced for the first time in front of the mountains we couldnt help but notice how perfect all the colours were. The soft pink tones of her hair against the smokey mountains. Intricate lace details on her dress agaisnt the wind-blown water.

We then met their officiant Barbara on a rocky beach at the far end of the lake. A spot that felt like it was made for us in that moment. Barbara let the lansdcape around her guide the flow of the ceremony. We started out on the beach for the beginning, then moved onto the rocks for letters from their mothers and vows for each other. Finally, we moved to a higher rocky ledge for their ring exchange and declaration. Time seamed to stand still.

Exploring the Mountain Landscape for Portraits

Selene and Tyler decided they wanted to stay at one location for the day to really make the most of the scenery around them. As photographers, we loved this as it allows not only them to slow down, but us too. We have the opportunity to explore different views, angles and have more time to play. On this day we were able to take our time climbing up rock formations, wandering through forests and skirt along the lakeside to really soak in what was around us. It almost makes the memories more vivid.

We had such a fun day celebrating Selene and Tylers love and we hope you enjoy looking through some of the moments from the day.
