Moody Canmore Elopement

This moody Canmore elopement day was such an incredible honour to photograph. It wouldn’t be fair to say that Celeste and Jeremy had a smooth time planning their day. We had just entered the second year of a global pandemic and restrictions in Alberta were changing by the day. These two sweet humans navigated it all with calm and graceful ease which resulted in one of the most beautiful elopement days we have yet to photograph.

Wild Weather and a Spontaneous Elopement Guest

The day began with low clouds, umbrellas and raincoats. We were all watching the weather radar closely on the day and made sure that we could catch the best window for their ceremony. Andrew headed up with the boys to their ceremony location overlooking the mountains while I waited for Celeste at the trail. We walked through the forest and when we got to the clearing we parted ways so she could walk up and meet Jeremy for their first look. We all stayed tucked in the trees and let this intimate moment unfold, all while the clouds lifted around us and revealed the amazing view of the mountains.

As if things couldn’t get more perfect with timing, we were approached by four horses coming up the trail towards us. Wendy, their owner, had a spare saddle and asked if Celeste wanted a photo with Montague the horse and well of course they took the opportunity! After we bid farewell to our new friends, Martha lead us through a thoughtful ceremony while their two best friends stood as witnesses to their promises to one another.

Photographing Moody Portraits in the Mountains

Our luck with weather followed us through the afternoon as we dodged the rain from location to location for their portraits. Moody days like this in the mountains are pure magic. When low clouds roam through the mountains they create the most amazing depth in the landscape. Being flexible on days like this is key and Jeremy and Celeste couldn’t have been more chill for a day that was forecast to rain 10-20mm. We had so much fun exploring these amazing landscapes with these two and we hope you enjoy looking through some of the memories from this special day.
