Fernie Wedding at Island Lake Lodge
This Fernie Wedding at Island Lake Lodge was such an incredible setting for an intimate wedding day in the mountains. Only the best places are located at the end of long winding dirt roads and Island Lake Lodge is no exception. The beautiful drive through old-growth forests with towering cedars above you is only where the magic of this place begins.
Jo and Will are mountain people. They make the most of the seasons by mountain biking, hiking and skiing. After they got engaged, a good friend insisted they check out Island Lake Lodge. It was exactly what they were hoping for their wedding day. Having all of their family and friends together surrounded by the mountains was the perfect way to celebrate their relationship.
A Wedding Weekend Full of Adventure
This remote lodge is the perfect place for an intimate wedding. It caters to an adventurous weekend-long experience with private lodges for guests to stay on-site. With a long list of hiking and biking trails surrounding the lodge, it’s impossible to get bored. I could even stare out at the beautiful mountain views all day from one of the many balconies. This was one location we had wanted to visit for a while and we were so thrilled when J and W invited us along to document their incredible wedding weekend!
The day began with everyone getting ready in separate cabins on site. The girls helped each other with their hair and makeup while the boys played lawn games before getting into their suits. Jo slipped into her stunning dress, a beaded top and silk skirt combo that was both elegant and unique.
Accompanied by her father, she walked down the wooden boardwalk, through the wildflowers to the ceremony site on the shore of the lake. With their closest friends and family watching they made promises to one another with the stunning Lizard Mountain Range silhouetted behind them.
Ancient Forests, Shimering Lakes and Endles Mountain Views
After they were pronounced husband and wife we went exploring together to make the most of the beautiful landscape we were in. We wandered through the old-growth forest, went for a walk with their pup Jackson down by the shore and made the most of sunset hour with a paddle out on the lake in the resident green canoe. It was the most beautiful afternoon.
A Cozy Reception followed by Dancing under the Full Moon
As the sun set the celebrations began with a beautiful 3-course meal, speeches from loved ones and signature cocktails. The newlyweds then shared their first dance out of the patio at dusk making the most of the long summer days here in Canada. This kicked off the dance party that continued into the early hours of the morning under the full moon.
We feel so lucky that we got to create these memories for such an amazing couple in the most spectacular place. We hope you enjoy looking through these memories of their day.
