Kananaskis Wedding at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge.

This Kananaskis wedding at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge was such a special two-day wedding in the mountains! Allison and Steve had two main requirements for their wedding day. 1. Get married outside, somewhere accessible in the mountains so that they could share the day with their family. 2. Go exploring for their portraits somewhere more remote to capture their love of adventure.

While planning out their day they found the perfect venue at the Kananaskis Pomeroy Mountain Lodge where they were able to have the most beautiful outdoor ceremony and intimate dinner, then rest up for their sunrise adventure.

A Beautiful Summer Ceremony in the Mountains.

If you are searching for a commissioner to tell your story beautifully then look no further than Barbara from Threshold Ceremonies. Barbara takes so much time to get to know each couple and weaves in so many special elements into each ceremony that she creates. These two have such a special story and their ceremony reflected how they have come to share such a special bond.

Steve and Allison met on a climbing trip organised by Steve’s brother. They kept a piece of the climbing rope from that trip and incorporated it into their day. First, through a leash for their pup Luna and then further through their ceremony with a symbolic knot tying ceremony. The trust and support that is so crucial in a climbing partner is mirrored in the relationship that they have built together.

I also can’t talk about their ceremony without mentioning their beautiful vows. Steve is a writer and Allison a teacher and they share a passion for literature. Their words to one another were some of the most thoughtful and inspiring we have ever heard and it was so special for them to be witnessed by all of their family and friends on the day.

Making Sentimental and Sustainable choices for your Wedding Day.

Allison and Steve are both incredibly kind and thoughtful humans. They planned the details of their day with so much care and sentiment. Researching vendors that truly spoke to them and choosing sustainable options where they could. Allison’s dress was purchased from a consignment store in Calgary and her flowers were all locally grown and sourced by Prairie Girl Flowers who shares the same passion for sustainability. The wildflowers in her bouquet and crown were so stunning and she even made a second bouquet with heartier flowers our morning hike!

An Incredible Sunrise Hike for some Epic Portraits.

Their second requirement for the day was to celebrate in the mountains hiking. Sunrise is our favourite time in the mountains as we love how peaceful it is hiking up in the dark and then experiencing a first light high in the alpine. The morning we got for this portrait session was incredible. There was a little bit of smoke lingering in the air that intensified the colours through the sky.

We spent the morning exploring across the vast landscapes, soaking in the sunlight and enjoying each others company. It was truly a pleasure to spend time with this amazing couple and we feel so lucky to have shared these memories with them and created some moments that they can look back on for the rest of their lives.
