Another benefit of a helicopter tour is its seclusion. We fly to locations that you can only get to via helicopter. This means you are guaranteed to be the only people at a particular location. This is perfect for anyone wanting to elope intimately and privately like Jess and Bart wanted to in this beautiful story.
Meet the Couple & Their Vision
Jess and Bart knew they wanted to embrace adventure on their wedding day but also wanted to make sure their parents could be a part of the day. Based on the West Coast of Canada, they were looking into helicopter companies close to home. After seeing our images from Rockies Heli in the Banff area, they decided that they wanted the rugged high alpine aesthetic that you can only find in the Rockies.
They found a sweet little cabin in the town of Nordegg as their base and curated a beautiful day that included a sunrise helicopter flight, intimate lakeside ceremony and picnic followed by a private chef dinner back at the cabin.
The Early Morning Takeoff & Flight Experience
Planning any sort of event at sunrise requires an element of embracing the unknown. There is always an anticipation for an early morning departure as you arrive at the helicopter base in the dark, not knowing what surrounds you.
On this particular day, as Jess was lacing up her hiking boots next to the helicopter, we could see clear skies to the East as dawn approached. We knew this meant we were in for a glorious morning. We all jumped in the helicopter full of excitement and as we soared through the valley the peaks began to awaken in vibrant colours of pink, red and orange.
Epic Wedding Portraits in the Mountains
Those first few moments at sunrise are wild and fleeting. We are always running around as fast as we can to capture as much of the golden light as possible. Jess and Bart looked incredible exploring the snowy, rocky terrain. The rugged towering peaks seemed to almost swallow them up in all their grandeur. They shared private vows in that moment, alone deep in the mountains. Then we hiked around the location, making the most of the epic views and incredible light that surrounded us.
Jess and Bart decided to keep this moment just for themselves and planned their official ceremony lakeside so that their parents could join. One of their parents led them through their ceremony which was so beautiful to witness. The bright blue of Abraham Lake behind them on a calm cloudy afternoon.
