We met Chelsea and Kris at a trailhead in Kananaskis early on a September morning, with our hiking boots ready for their Rocky Mountain engagement adventure. After looking at the forecast the night before and knew we might see some flurries on our hike, but nothing prepared us for the foot of snow surrounding the lakes at Kananaskis the morning of this shoot. We were out of cell service at the trailhead, so decided to make a cup of tea and wait in our van discussing whether maybe Chelsea and Kris might not make it due to the bad weather and road conditions coming from Calgary. A few minutes later we hear a knock on our door and were greeted by a happy dog named Winston and a brave couple ready to hike up a mountain with us in the snow!
We were rewarded with the most epic views at the top and although the snow was not expected for this fall adventure session. We were so amazed by how incredible the view was as we watched the clouds below us float slowly among the peaks. After a long and tiring hike up the slippery side of a mountain, these two could still smile and laugh with each other in the cold at the crazy adventure they had agreed on together. On our way down it started raining and we stopped at the lake to take a few more photos while the raindrops distorted the perfectly reflected trees on the water. This shoot has reminded us that sometimes some of the most beautiful and unexpected photos come out of weather that doesn’t seem ideal. Thanks, Chelsea and Kris for trusting us and going on this adventure with us! We hope that this has inspired all of you to get out and so something a little different for your engagement photos!
